installing a fan for intake?

I have seen a problem with aftermarket intakes for the LS400. In installing a K&N cone filter, I have been experiencing pinging at idle. It also feels as if my tranny kicks when shifting gear to gear, like the car is choking. I know that it is the fault of the intake, so my question is, should I add an electric fan? or go back to the stock instake? I love the way the intake sounds and i'm hesitant to get rid of it because it had cost me $70 to purchase! Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your air intake should not be causing this problem if you are still running air flow meter
