OK you A/T guru's, I'm stumped with trying to remove the A/T shifter lever from a Supra. I know it's not a Lexus, but it's still an A340E tranny, and I'm sure Toyota didn't change their mounting arrangement too much from the Lexus to the Supra.

I've got the console removed so I can see everything better, but for the life of me, I can't figure out how to get the top part of the shift lever off, so I can remove the plastic bits underneath (the PRNDL indicator, and another piece of trim).

Reason I'm in this to begin with is that the shifter had some slop in it and I'm trying to see where it's coming from.

Got the shifter out - turns out it can't be disassembled from the top with it still in the car, so the whole shifter assembly had to come out.

The problem with the slop in the shifter turned out to be disintegrated bushings down at the bottom of the shifter where it pivots. As I didn't have new bushings, I made a full length sleeve/bushing out of some teflon tube. Reassembled it Hopefully that'll hold it for a few more years.

to get my auto shifter assy out of my sc400 i had to pull halfe of my interior out lol.
luckally its not going back in.
