Is it possible that i can Supercharged my SC400 for under $1.5k? I know power doesnt come cheap but this is all $$ i have to spent. My goal is around 260-280rwhp. Please enlight me. Thanks

Used supercharger would run around $1,200 to $1,500. Nothing is impossible, but it would be very hard but at the same time, you need to define supercharger. U can get a basic M90 for like $150 and you need to put in alot of work yourself.

Lextreme, can you build a kit for me for 1.5k with the M90 sc? I'm really not looking for crazy power so there no need for Votech V2 supercharger, anything that can get me 50rwhp+ safely would be fine. If i have to spend more than 1.5k, then i rather save up and go with 2jz swap. Thanks everyone for their reply

NO...... I can NOT. Do u think 2JZ swap going to cost $1,500? The engine would run about $2,400 already... Its more like $7-10K.

No i did not say 2jzgte swap cost 1.5K, i know it cost 6-7k for complete swap with TT auto, of course with 6spd it would cost way more. Anyway, thanks, thought at least I try before i purchase Zex kit.

Fedex,
You may get your stock bottom intake manifold out and build it as manifold for the Eaton M90. A good aluminum welder should be able to fabricate it for you. I'd say a used M90 ($150 if you get lucky) and that manifold will be around $500. Then you'll still have $1K for belt, FMU....etc. Do your search for Quadcam boat or Cobra to see how they built the supercharger manifold. You'll have to do the installation by yourself to keep the range down to $1.5K.

you guys are very optimistic.

injectors are 800 plus lets say a SAFC for 300 plus 150 for install plus wastegate plus bov maybe plus, intercooler, etc etc.

Maybe everythying issnt required but the stuff that is seems like it is over 1K easily

Install is gonna be serious plus any fabrication which it doesn sound like he will be doing himself.

Like I said I wont say it isnt possible but it sounds extremely optimistic.

Lets do the math:

Anyone know the price of a Richwood Tech Manifold?
M90 Supercharger: $150
Pulley Tensioner: Custom $$$$$$
Belt: $40 and you will need to do few exchanges to get the right size.
Supercharger Intake: Pipe from the supercharger to the MAF and will be CUSTOM.... $$$$$$
FMU: $250
Misc: $50
Labor: I would say at least $1000 to $2,000.

Why so much for labor? Hey changing injectors would cost $550 already and this is not a bolt on job and pretty much the mechanic have never done this before.

So for $

The answer is no

Fast
Cheap
Reliable

Pick 2

For 1,500 dollars, you couldn't even get nice headers/exhaust/air filter, etc,

Finish college and then put some money into the car

If you can fabricate all your own parts find a good secondhand m90 that does not need rebuilding then you could do it for $1,500.
A bolt on jobby would cost more. http://www.lextreme.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5627

I don't think you would get the group buy price on the kit anymore but it would give you an indication of the stuff and what sort of price to expect.

Guys, please don't discourage him. Fedex, why not raise up the price to let's say "$2K"? HP isn't cheap, but you can get it from what I see from your speed desire. The more work & skill you put into it, the more you'll save out of it. The only issue is time.

Fedex What part of the world do you live in
If you live in Aussie Im sure Joel could make you one up for around that price

I just went ahead and order me the ZEX kit. It should sastisfy my need for speed for now. Here are some pics of my car. I should have spend the money on the 2jzgte swap first before anything else =(
Mods= PI T/C, Megan Racing Coilover, 19" Racing Hart/Toyo, Injen Intake, MagnaFLow exhaust with 2 1/4 piping, Zex waiting to arrive.

No one is discouraging him from supercharging, but he is being discouraged from being unrealistic, and his current desires and expected price range are not realistic. Based on his questions, I would speculate he does not have the experience to do what you are suggesting of him.

The Zex kit is nice enough for some surprises, especially for some M3, new Mustang V8, and maybe some older non-Z Vettes..etc. However, if you use the Nos alot, then it'll actually cost more than $2K easily. Let's say if you're having a good deal for a $500 Zex kit (that's what I see the price for mild kit), and you get happy feet & happy gas several times daily, you can pay $60 per bottle refill /week = $3210 annually (52 weeks). This cost is only without the pump gas. Now let's imagine what you can have for $3210 on a FI kit with a fix price. No more $3210 annually.
