Head Gasket Thickness

I am about to throw some parts together to make a dummy engine. I have no used head gaskets so I need to know the thickness of a compressed head so I can make something out of a Klinger type gasket material so I can bolt the heads to the block and have the correct height for the inlet ports.

you can buy them in different thicknesses.
1.2mm to 3mm

Yea for clearance etc I would measure at .040 ..
The MLS gasket I used is .080 ...

Thanks for your help. I have some 1.55mm material that should be OK.
