I have a 1994 UZZ31 Soarer and may need to replace the ECU. Would a 1994 US ECU work, it would also have the benefit of running in mph and not being limited on the top speed.
The no. on the ECU is 89661-6401 also printed on it 1UZ-FE 33. It has four connectors and they are (working left to right) a 34 pin 22 pin 16 pin and 28pin.
Any help gratefully received.

US ones are set up for EGR.
I doubt you have this.

To safely replace it, you need to get one with the same part number as yours.

As for the speed limiter, MPH vs KPH is just a display.
The speedo turns at the same speed.

Thanks for your reply Peewee, I think you are correct about the EGR.

As for the mph issue, in England if we want the speedo to read in mph and to delimit we have to fit a chip, but the problem is when converting from kmh the speed sensitive steering is affected e.g. at 100mph the steering thinks it's still running at 100kmh. There are also gear change issues with some of these chips, they also cost about £150 so if a used US ECU was ok to fit it would be cost effective.

Could anyone tell me how many plugs/connectors (and no. of pins for each) there are on a 94/95 sc 400 ECM? As I may try and buy a cheap one and try it anyway. My car has TRC, not aware if it came as standard in that year in the US or if it matters.

What date did the '95 cars start from in the US?

Thanks.
