I just got a set of stage 1 cams. They are reground stock cams with slash caps. We are also making a tools for adjusting shim heights and along with a set of shim kit.

We will get some base line dynos and chemical contents (smog station). After cams installed we will get some numbers after along with smog contents.

Once our tool is done, we will do a video on how to install shims.

congrats, this is great progress, especially working out the shim package and making an install video, can't wait to see the power made and cost.

Kelfords no good then? Alot of guys use them but then there's not many alternatives, particularly for the price.

Kelfords are around the road from me, the guys there are a-holes. They take very little care in their products and are very overpriced for the product they deliver. Having said that, I dont see many alternatives to them for the 1UZ.

yeah, Ivan Tighe does a few grinds and i know his work is top shelf but then so are his prices. I was hoping Kelfords was a realistic alternative...bummer.

Ivan Tighe is long retired ,his son Dean has taken over the bussines and after ordering my cams I had 3 engine
rebuilders comment on how he has F----d every cam he had done for them.My cams seem O.k. Note that they are ground on Kelford billets and the price is about the same.

Tighe,Waggott and Kelford all do suitable cams BUT YOU must know what is required ! The rest of the engine must be matched to the profile required. The cam grinder does not know your engine specs or your expectations.

There are 4 cams to grind so cost are about the same as 4 pushrod cams.

1uz heads on 2uz block?

David,

Great stuff! You're catching me too fast....although I am fixin' to drop the engine and trans in my truck...:o) Are these cams going in the 1uz heads you are using on your 2uz build-up?

Wayne

JBrady,

Stock Cam Specs:
Lift: .300"
Duration: 238 degree @ .015"
Lobe separation: 110 degree

Stage 1 Cam Specs:
Lift: .345"
Duration: 252 degree @ .015"
Lobe separation: 110 degree

Result:
Lift: .045" (16.67% increase)
Duration: 14 degree (5.88% increase)

Wayne,

Those cams are for non-vvti 1uzfe.

I know the exact specs i want Errol and both Tighr and kelford do close enough......seems the feedback is about quality?

I have used both Waggot and Tighe before but both long long ago. Had good success with Wade cams as well.

Who will you be using Errol?

Quality ? What do they mean, what is not correct? Duration, phasing, profile, base circle dia ? It is easy to rubbish cam grinders with a generic comment.

We are using Kelford, they have the late Cosworth BDA/BDG profiles. Nothing wrong with any of the other grinders, just they don't have the profiles we require.

post is wacky

Pls have patience...for some reason, the formatting in my prior cams post goes wacko when I actually post it...tried editing, but it still goes back like you see it. I still should be easy to pick out the first set of numbers is for the intake and second set of numbers on the same line is for exhaust.

Dunno Errol, "junk and farked" are the only descriptions. 1st time i have heard of a prob with either but if Tighes has changed management you never know if cost cutting has been undertaking or whatever? You'd hope the comments were genuine :ponder:

One was timing ,the other was phasing. Enyone can make a mistake, but to not want to cover costs to fix the problem will have people complaining.
(Same as any bussiness)
