Hey guys. As the subject says, i am getting an SC400 in the next month or so..... I initially figured i was going to do a 2jz-gte swap in it to get power, but after reading some of these threads....... This may not be the best option.... I also plan on doing a 6 speed conversion.... Is the 1uzfe that good for boosting? I really am interested in your thoughts...... I have been around Supras for years and people who build them..... I probably spent the better part of 2 years of weekends in Vinny Ten's shop in Queens awhile back.... There is so much power available from the 2jz-gte.... I have anohter guy who builds these Supras and a friend with his 97 Supra with 700 or so to the wheels..... What are the options that you guys would take and why..... I thank you in advance for any ideas... I am just trying figure out which way to go.

well, a lot of people are swapping 1uz's into supras now when going for big hp and torque, so that should pretty much answer the question of whether to keep it :)

From what i know of the 2jz, they are good to about 600rwhp (on aussie dynos) on stock internals before things can start going...the 1uz should manage 800rwhp i would think

This is what my initial thought was really on this..... again, after reading these threads....... There is a Vortech V2-sq supercharger for sale on eBay with injectors, head gaskets, and a couple of other misc. stuff....... I'm wondering if i should buy these? Any help? :)

Thanks.

Dan

the 2jz is a great engine.. but if you told a supra guy that you could give him 20% more displacement, he would probabaly be jumping all over it..-until you told him it was an 8 cyl... there are a precious few examples in the US.. but this doesnt mean that they are not as capable as the 2jz.. either direction can cost a bundle, but since you already have the v8, i would lean toward that direction.. i think you could have a FI v8 for much less than a complete swap.. but this is all just my opinion..
i am glad you are even considering keeping the v8.. it shows that your at least keeping an open mind, and trying to make an informed decision..
