I have a 92 sc400 with 170k. I bought it recentlybecause i wanted to get back into the sc game. I bought it from the original owner. He said that when he was driving home one day the transstarted acting up by not shifting. One morning he went to go leave for work and it went into 1st gear while cold but when warm it loss power like the trans totally slipped. I checked the fluid and it is over filled and black. It looks as if it hasnt been changedin a long time. Also the starter took some time to engauge. So with that i know for sure the starter needs replacement.
As for the trans is it dead?
Id like to change the fluid but because the starters out i midas well get a used trans right?
Im on a budget right now so if i did swap a ls400 trans what years am i able to use?
Could it be my torque converter?
