Hello, Lextreme! I’m going to be swapping a 3UZFE into my Mitsubishi Montero Sport and the engine I’m buying is from a 2006 Lexus LS430. When looking up the specs of this car, I’m seeing 276HP. I thought the 3UZ’s had 290/300HP. Why the difference and how can I get it back up the 300HP range? An ECU tune only adds about 10% or so. Is this the difference? Just the tune on the ECU?

There's no hp loss for the 2006 at all. Lexus has adopted the stricter new SAE standard for measuring hp which results in the lower rating, but the hp/torque of the 2006 LS430 are exactly the same as the 2001-05 LS430.
The vast majority of the other manufacturers are still using the old SAE standard.
The 2006 LS430 will actually be a little faster than your dad's 03 LS430 because it has a six speed auto transmission instead of the five speed auto of the pre-2004 models.”
