I have a question in regards to the difference between the pre 95 1uzfe and the 95 and up version. I am about to start a 1uz swap into my buddy's 1984 supra. That requires a LS400 style front sump. He bought a 95 (high compression, thiner rods, OBD2) SC400 engine. I have a 1991 LS400 complete parts car. He wants to swap engines with me and I am fine with that but it makes no sense for me to have the 95 style ecu and harness. Can i swap just the long blocks and not have ether ECU freak out?

For the SC400 the changes were made in 1996. So 1995 would be same as 1992.

LS400 1990-1994 is the same
SC400 1992 to 1995 is the same.

So your friend's 1995 SC400 engine is same as your 1991 LS400. ECU might be little different as far as the plugs.

I just checked. The SC400 motor is a 1996. I new it was the the first year of the high compression with the different air meter but i thought that that started in 95. so can i switch long blocks?

Basically, what are the differences in the sensors, and will the 96+ ECU and electronics work on an 94 LS longblock, or are the ECU maps different? It's going into my 85 MK2 supra, by the way.
