Hi guys, I guess this will be my first post.
So, I'm pretty much replacing all the gaskets and seals on this 1UZ im building and I've gotten to the front crank oil seal. When I finally got the old crank seal out, I noticed that there was a black small protrustion on the lower left bottom area (about 2 mm wide and 0.5-1mm thick, 7 oclock position). I didn't thnk much of it and I attempted to install the new oilseal, but now it doesnt look like it will seal properly, not to mention, I cant get it to sit perfectly flush due to it. It will probably hit the timing pulley/sprocket once I put it back on there.
Can anyone tell me why this is doing this? the seal that I bought had no provisions for the protrusion. Do I need a new oil pump?

A picture of the old seal. Someone must of cut the seal in this area? It was obviously leaking though.
