1UZ into 85 pickup

Hello to everyone here. I'm new to the forum but have been wheeling toyotas for 30-ish years. I'm starting a 1UZ swap with my son into his 85 pickup. I'm here looking for information and plan to document what we do. Just got the motor home yesterday. It came out of a '95 SC400 and still has the auto trans attached. Looking into either trying to use the original trans or converting it to an R series trans. Would love any input.
