1UZ in a VW Passat

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.
Get out your tape measure and see if it fits.

Fitmant depends on the series of Passat your looking at.

that would be a ton of weight where you dont want it. I would do a 1.8T swap if you want some decent power. my 2cents

yeah. passat are fwd. 1uz is heavy. it wont turn corners good. cut up the floor and spend thousands having a rear wheel drive passat made, or buy a different car. i would go for the latter.

Passat was available as AWD, I doubt you'd have to cut the floor. Use the rear drive bits from a 4motion Passat, and the rest of the driveline from a 1UZ car. Should be able to move the engine back somewhat from stock. I think weight distribution would be no worse than stock.

just realised that I haven't been getting notifications for all your responses - DOH!

The car is a Passat 4Motion all wheel drive. The 2.8 v6 is nice but I need that v8 torque, growl and way that all the white lines on the road blur in to one!

Anybody know the difference between the weight of the 1UZ engine and the VW W8 engine? Wouldn't have thought there'd be that much given they're both in the 4litre range and alloy block?

the W8 motor is an over engineered work of art. But very expensive, but prolly would suite you better than our 1uz's.

I think your biggest hurdle will be the lenght of the 1UZFE compared to the VW V8. If you want an
easy swap use the engine, the 4WD gearbox and the front suspention from an Audi A6/A8, they should
mate up with the VW Passat body.

1UZ is too long, but I don't agree that it is heavy. Now the 2UZ, that's another matter entirely.

thanks everyone for your input. looks like i'll just have to wait until i can afford an RS6!!! here in NZ you can get a 1UZ complete with gearbox for around the NZ$2 grand mark. The Audi W8 engine on the other hand is considerably more expensive - especially if you get it via a VW Stealership!!!

Audi/1uz

Hi There, Sound like you need some help, if the 1uz will fit in the space, i think it would the engine bay is a reasonable size.1uz is 690mm long x 700 x700 give or take a bit.
I have pulled many Passats/ Audi apart, it will be lighter than the Audi/vw 5 cyl , my project is a Countach replica, i have had an adapter and flywheel made to suit the 016 gearbox, and have attached it to the Audi 016 4wd box, if you need any help let me know, pm an email address and i can send some pics.

Regards
Lambo
