Hey Guys,

I have a friend with a 1990 LS 400. He took it to a mechanic and from the story i heard, there was oil leaking into the engine and further investigation resulted in him being quoted over 3500 for:

Valve Seals,
Valve Cover,
Head Gasket...

uh? i think that seems rather ridiculous?

He was also quoted at 6000 for a new engine and 1250 for the labor.

Does anyone know of any good mechanics that can help my friend out in the NY/NJ area? or any leads within this forum?

you can probably get a halfcut from Japan for like $2000...

well, you could if you were in Australia anyway :)

I had the same problem with a 92 sc400........it turned out to be the rear main seal, I had to replace the engine...it cost me $2900 here in miami.

hey guys I have a question also I wish to replace my fuel injectors this weekend..Is this a difficult job, If I take it upon myself to do so? Also where are the injectors located....
help a brotha out??????

Runner,

I would respectfully suggest if you don't know were the njectors are located on the engine you shouldn't try working on it. Whilst it isn't hard there are a lot of oportunities to make errors and end up with a non-runner or an engine bay fire.

Why would you want to change the injectors on a stock engine?

*** parts in NZ are dirt cheap, i can pick up a 1uz motor for 800 nz dollars and thats with trans and wiring loom.

Injector location

thanks for the concern, but I still need to know if anyone here knows the location of the injectors on the sc4oo 1uzfe engine. The car is ten years old, It needs new injectors, so far I have changed the fuel filter, clean the throttle-body, changed the fuel pump, new tune-up. To get the proper fuel milage the injectors needs to be either cleaned (not by in-fuel additives) or replaced. The feul milage is horrible right now.

please help

The injectors are located under the fuel rail that is located betwen the plenum and the heads.

The fuel rails are held down by 2 12mm nuts on each one. Remember this is a V8 so it has a fuel rail either side of the plenum.

The rails are joined front and back by black fuel lines that will need removing before you can lift out the fuel rails. You will also need to remove the inlet and outlet lines.

You will have to remove the throttle body and some of the black plastic covers for access.

When re-installing wet the injectors seals with fuel (gas) as a lubricant to ensure you don't damage the seals.

Once it's together check VERY carefully for fuel leaks from the top of the injectors plus at all fuel unions.

If you know how to wrench it should take about 2 hours. If you are learning allow all day.
