1990 Lexus, transponder in the key?

does the key have a transponder thingo, like I believe the later ones do, or, will a "plain" key work in the 1990?

I'm looking to replace my key (only have one) and can get a blank for a few bucks, but no transponder thingo...

any help?

Oh, man! I was in the same situation like you. I was so rude and nobody responded. However, I realized that it's just me and not anyone else. I understood that in order to get replied, I had to respect other members on this forum, whether if I got the answers to my replies or not.

Here's an even newer guy trying to answer a Q that went unanswered:
AFAIK, the 1990 does NOT have a transponder in the key. I am about to do a remote start installation on a 1990 and I don't plan on having to add a transponder module. Will know for sure in a couple weeks, but I'm 99% positive there is no transponder.
