Hi Folks

Im Reinier Welgemoed from South Africa. This is my first post on your forum. Ive been reading throught it for a long time and have decided to start my build post here.

Im building a replica Ariel Atom and have opted to change ky mind on what motor ro put in it. It was 90% done with a VW 2litre 8v turbo in it but i didnt like weight distribution and placement of it...

Some pics of it before i took the motor out...

very cool a replica. Can you buy the design or something? Or did you replicate it yourself?

ive got a friend that took a couple of pics of Atoms and just drew up something dor me. Whole car weighs in at 514kg so should be around 550kg with the 1uz....

im still not sure what motor I should select. this will never be turbo charged and I only going to work the heads with ITBS and some custom headers. will the thin rod 1uz be reliable?

I meant the vvti... this makes more power tp start off with and i want as much as I can get without revving past 7k..

The VVTi is good in stock form for 200rwkw day in day out....that's with the stock intake as well. Going to ITBs will save you a few kgs as the stock intake is bloody heavy and give you a few more hp but don't expect large gains......will sound horn though and I'd do it just for the noise

It's a 700mm cube near enough so it will be a tight squeeze for you I think?

Space isnt problem in the back of this thing. Im also looking for design ideas on the headers as iwant the best possible top end power and has to be 4into1 headers. Needs to be real show pieces. As space really isnt a problem so i can accomodate any design..
