A friend told of me today to have look at this new Ford Mustang coming out. I was so impressed being that it is a Ford I felt I must share...What are your thoughts?

This car does 0-60mph in 3.3 seconds and the quarter mile at 11.6 seconds. I would say this car hauls _ss!. Thought some of you guys might like to take a look at this beast. I don't think I will be looking to race that with my Lexus any time soon...

That's not a Mustang. The Mustang GT is a different (and vastly less expensive) beast than the Ford GT you pictured (which was patterned after the GT40).

But, for '07 (actually, early in '06) the new Ford Shelby GT500 Mustang will arrive, with a 475hp supercharged 5.4 liter V8 (essentially the same engine as in as the nearly 600 hp Ford GT pictured, but with a different management, and only a pully and chip away from 600 hp!)

This thing is going to be a BEAST.

Pulley change, exhaust change and reprogram the computer will bring this GT500 to 600 bhp.

Gotcha!!!! Is it faster then the Tungsten? I think that red one looks like garbage compared to the Tungsten. No offense intented just my opinion...

ChrisV was just pointing out that the car you posted was not a Mustang as indicated by your thread title.
Of course the GT is better than the Mustang. But then you're talking about two entirely differet brackets of cars.

I read this Ford as being a Mustang GT Tungsten in the artical, my bad...However, it is still a manufactured Ford automobile and can be purchased.. It is an impressive car performance wise. That car costs $140,000 and that is more then some houses cost..

I think I'll wait til the price drops to around $14,000 before I go buying one of those fancy cars...I may be old and grey before that happens..:veryhappy This beast is still cheaper and faster 0-60 then the Lambo's, Ferrari's, etc.. and looks just as nice. Believe it or not this Ford Tungsten car is probably a great buy in comparison to all the other top end sports cars if you are a multi-milliionaire and have no problem pissing away $140K on a car....

You can't settle for anything less than a Ferrari 360 Modena in my eyes. (Sports-car wise) But, that still is a beast.

Well tell us about this Ferrari 360 Modena, any pics, what can it do, and how much? I visiting the Ferrari dealership a few months ago and sat in the best of the best. I am not sure one of them was this Modena, I was to busy adjusting my eyes to the sticker price of over $200,000. I still like that top of the line Austin Martin,.....The Deablo isn't a bad choice either...

So you mean

Aston Martin V8 / DB9 / Vanquish?

Lamborghini Diablo ? That has been replaced with the Murcielago

That is correct the Vanquish is sweet and maybe my favorite car out there today. Don't know about the Murcielago replacing the Diablo.... Cannot afford these cars so I don't take the time to look at them all when they come out...

jibby, something else I didn't go over...

Tungsten is merely the name of a new color for the Ford GT for 2006. It's not the car's name. In '05 it was available in black, red, yellow, blue, and white. This year they added Tungsten (that dark grey) and a heritage paint scheme that honors the Ford GTs that won LeMans in '68 and 69 wearing the Gulf colors.

And you're not going to find any of them selling for the $140k list. ;) Most are being sold with dealer markups that get closer to $200k (the first few of them were being sold for almost $300k). '07 is the last year for the car, as they are going to be replacing it with another limited edition car using the same mechanicals (ther'es been talk of the Shelby Cobra update they were showing a coupleyears back, and also of the GRX-1 showcar from this past year, being the possible replacements). I doubt the Ford GT will ever get to be $15k, as it's an instant collector's item.

And the '68 GT to compare to...

The Mustang I posted, the GT500, is the new SVT/Shelby version of the Mustang GT, with differnt bodywork than the '05/'06 Mustang. It's chunky, and not for everyone, but I love it. I want to see it in blue with the white stripes, however, but pretty much all I've seen so far has been the red:

The Mustang GT is a 300 hp SOHC V8 powered musclecar that lists for $25k. the Shelby GT500 (pictured) is the same car with the 475 hp supercharged 5.4 liter engine and other upgrades, and it lists for around $40k. The Ford GT (regardless of color) will be hard pressed to be found for under $150k. And yerah, it better look better than it's lesser siblings.

Kinda surprised that you're in California and hadn't heard of or seen this car before, as the Ford GT has been on the cover of pretty much every major magazine, from Road & Track to Car & Driver and Motor Trend, as well as on some non-automotive magazines, and even on TV ads, all since mid '04. They tested one on Top Gear in the UK (and Jeremy Clarkson even bought the first one in the UK, then complained that the aftermarket immobilizer that caused the car to report itself stolen was Ford's fault).

I'd about sell my soul to buy one... heheheheh.

I don't think I know of any other car that produces 475hp and has a sticker price of $40,000 that sounds like a fast car for the buck$$$$$...I wonder if that Ford GT500 would beat out a new stock corvette 0-60mph and in the quarter.. My guess is it would...

I actually saw this car on the 405 (N) coming from near Avalon Blvd. It looks very low and wide from behind.
