1uzfe coolant expansion volume

Hi all,

This might seem like an odd question - what is the volume of coolant expansion needed on the 1UZFE? I'm fitting a 1uz into a Lotus, and looking at the cooling system. I want to run an inline rad cap (thanks mr Bushwhacker) and an expansion tank.

Does anyone know what volume of expansion tank I'm likely to need? Ideally I'd like something small, but big enough to work.

Any help / info / guesses welcome.

I would guess a 2 ltr tank ?? About 1/3 coolant ???
To fit in tight places a 4" alloy tube can be fabricated...

Yeah it doesn't have to be exact at all. Just find something near what XR8tt said and you'll be fine.

On our Cobra builds we used the expansion tanks from Volvo 440's iirc ( mid sized boxy shape cars) which are perfect for the job. Small, relatively shallow but with a small bore connection for the top of the radiator and a larger bore connector at the base of the tank for the main supply into the cooling system.
