hi there guys looking at getting the project under way sooner rather then later. it will be twin turbo set up same as what i have in the car now. need as much info on the bottem end of the 1uzfe like week spots and any other stuff that you may know off.

need a good set of rods and pistons for it what brands i need help on this
compresion ratio 8.5 or 9.5
will run it on methanol or e85 fuel

i have
16 X 1600cc injectors
msd ignition same as is in car now
heads are done
cometic gaskets

Argo or Spool rods. C.P pistons.. Half fill block with grout..
13mm head studs.. Deeper steel extended sump with extended pick up..

Keep reasonable comp ?? Your not running pump fuel..

Thought E85 maybe better ?? Less oil changes...??

cool where can you get c.p pistons are they custom made options or shelf items
yes i was going to tap out the head bolts to 1/2 inch
i was going to see not to fill the block with grout??
the sump on it holds 5 liters i will look at widening it at the front

Check pin size and length FIRST then order piston http://www.qri.biz/ [Aust agents] then wait 4 to 5 weeks...Or if you know someone who deals with this stuff in U.S ?? Order through them..Imo the best turbo piston out there hands down...
Come supplied with rings .. Ask for gas porting and double spirolocs ...
Btw to help bore I would order piston with least amount over bore...
Keep sleeve strength...

You have been on V-eight.com eh? A good value rod/piston combo for sale on there now.

Half grout block is not a daily....euro's are doing this for street driven and getting away with it.

1/2 inch head studs is overkill, you can drill and tap for 7/16 as should be pretty straight forward.

Stock inlet won't cut it ;)

Build it as justen says and build a new engine every year...
Your after 1000 h.p on ethanol / alcohol fuels..
Hardly a daily driver.. 30mm or so grout fill would give enough support..
The oil won't cool as good but increase sump capacity to compensate..
I assume your going to require 20Lb plus boost which puts great strain on bore sleeves and head retention.. Which is quite an easy upgrade...

Btw that Euro engine was part grout filled..

Also you might consider a main girdle to keep the crank in place. 6 bolt mains w/ arp hardware strengthens it quite a bit but tying all the mains together will aid in rigidity even more. You can cut one out of 3/8 streel very easily.

compression ratio stated is fine
i would go around the 60-66 mm turbos
if your looking for a sleeve to fit to the block, i can get that too.. LA brand from usa. good for 40+ psi
7/16 arp studs are fine for heads, with a copper H/D , and o ring it will hold...
ive seen the JE pistons hold up ok, with 40+ psi...
BUT
just put some $$$ into the wrist pin, on the small end..
most of the time , the pin is weak, it flexs, and makes the rod small end oval... then the problem start..

cheers

all right traked down a block and crank it is standard bore will be getting bored and honed out to 20 thou
trying to track down some grout to grout the block
and then it is of to get honed out

what else is needed

you not just clean it up, and get custom piston to suit..
the sleeve is fairly thin..more meet the better

20 thou is too much.

The sleeve is only about 80thou thick so you'll be reducing it's strengh a lot.

If it's stock bore and it can be honed to a good piston fit I'd leave it stock.

I did this on my latest engine as it seemed pointless for the little extra capacity you'll gain by boring.

Depends if street driven ?? Although I guess it goes by power levels ???
Yea mine is 35mm from the top with a little more on thrust side..
Doing one bank at a time...
Yea I agree with Ash.. IMO just hone to new piston size..
The top of the sleeve is NOT the correct thickness..
From people in the know say they are 2mm std..
These sleeves are stronger than normal case iron sleeve blocks...

ok can you get new sleeves for them

i might get it cleaned up then and not bored out for more wall thicknes on the sleeve

with the grout fill it to the top and leve about 40 mm from the top

what else i am open for options here

if its methanol, and ur putting a custome piston in it
put static 10-11: 1 comp
liven it up

For the grout: ask your local performance shop that has done something before to a Chevy engine or so....
From what i remember: my tuner said..."fill it all up"...the machine shop said: better leave the cooling system intact if driven on the Autobahn for a long time...so ended up filling only the lower part to keep cooling circulation and support the block enough...
Works fine sofar !
Full filling might only be usefull for drag races...
