1UZFE into V6 4Runner
Hi All,
First off, what a great forum!! There is so much hell info on here!!
Since the beginning of this year I've been getting the V6 (3vze) in my 94 4Runner ready to be turbo charged, and after having everything just about done (WOLF 3D, Turbo, 3" mandrel exhaust, 430cc injectors, Water to Air I/C, Garret T3 Ballbearing Turbo etc..) my V6 has started to sh!t itself due to a tuning error on the original tune of the WOLF, bugger!! I'm really dissapointed the tuner didn't pick up on the detonation, the motor still runs fine, but blows heaps of oil and smoke out of the crank case breathers (they aren't connected to the intake), it also has a lot of strange rattles and ticking noises while running, and seems to ping no matter how much timing you take out or fuel you add??
Anyway to get to the point the V6 turbo option is scrapped if favour of a 1UZ transplant, which I think will be a sh!tload better anyway, and a lot more reliable. I've been trying to get as much info as possible the last couple of weeks, but just have some questions.
1. Does anyone know what sump will be needed for the 1UZ to suit the 4Runner IFS suspension? or will the sump have to be modified either way?
2. I've seen the prices for the kits (from Guts's posts on Outerlimits) to bolt up to my R150F 5 speed and was wondering if I need all the clutch assembly, since I have an Uncle who works ar KB Auto so I can get all the clutch stuff for cost price, which will save a fair phew dollars, so I'd just get the Bell housing, pilot bearing, pivot ball and flywheel from Castlemain Rod Shop or Dellows. Or also can the new Safari Tuff clutch I just put in for the turbo conversion be used??
3. I also have a mate that can do radiators for me for cost price. Would my std. V6 radiator cope with cooling the V8, or should I get a new custom one??
4. I had a 3" mandrel bent exhuast fitted with highflow cat etc.. for the turbo conversion. This should be fine with the new motor too? modified to suit anyway?
5. I wired up the WOLF 3D on my V6 and am pretty sure I'll be fine to do it on the V8, is the wireup all staright foward, or is there any tricks to this motor?? Also 400ZED, I seen you were offering to send someone your the maps of your WOLF, any chance I could get a copy of them when I'm ready?? I'm not too keen on having the same guy that tuned my V6 do this one, as I'd like to keep this motor.
I think that's it for now, sorry if people have asked any of these questios before. I've seached this forum and a phew others before posting this and haven't been able to find the info.
Any other info you guys have got would be great too!!
