Which 5 speed to use?

Yes the 2UZ manual in Cruiser is an H series, completely different to R series and absolutely huge (ie physically about half as big again). Would require transmission tunnel mods to just about any vehicle other than big 4wd.

The gears are also heavy giving truck style gear changes. But great if you are an older Cruiser owner as makes 1UZ simpler to install.

Apparently (don't quote me) Toyota have made a 1uz to R series bell, must be for market other than OZ but available thru dealerships- it's $600- $700 making Dellow/ CRS cheaper option. Also clutch too, again would expect this to be exxy$$.

Its not a Toyota Part.
Toyota don't do 1UZ to R15x bellhousings.

Hey guys I'm from the states and I'm pretty sure that the standard tranny in the late model landcruisers is somthing we are not so fortunite to have here all we get is the auto tranny. I had been looking for one my self for quite some time only to figure this out.

sorry guys. Entered that thread a little late you seem to be of the subject. I was just trying to clear up schneidy's issue with the manual tranny.
