water flow direction

Hello all,
just in the process of plumbing my cooling systerm up on my conversion, I would like to know does the coolant flow out of the engine through the pipe without the thermostat or vice versa?

out the pipe with out the termostat and into the pipe with the thermostat, when its open, when its closed it flows past the therostat from the pump

you want the radiator hose from the bottom of the radiator to go to the thermostat. and the hose without the termostat to go to the top of the radiator.
