This is a Toyota Motor Sports Marine 4.0L that has a rear sump and I am putting it in a boat. As you can see it touches the inside of the bottom of the boat hull because it is too wide (and I really need to go a little lower still). From looking at the thread on sump pics, it appears that a mid sump would work best for me as it appears narrower. However, it also appears that these mid sumps are hard to find in the USA. I would also entertain a front sump but I do not think it is any narrower than the rear sump.
Of course I would trade this rear sump setup for anything narrower. If not successful (I probably won't be), the existing pan actually requires very little modification, just trying NOT to have to do it and also if someone needs a rear sump would rather not spoil it by modifying it.....
Also I will have to relocate drain plug to middle, but again it seems like the mid sumps have a middle plug.
