hi all was hoping to get some info we have a jet sprint boat racing class here in perth using th 1uz engine stock standard with at76 turbo, indy waste gate,90 throttle body,550cc inj,700hp fuel pump boch 044,ems stinger engine management, dry sump, pwr barrel intercooler,
as im new to turbo petrol engines was hoping to get some help.

this fit in other boats is giving around 500fhp,im looking to go twin turbo mainly for pick up out of the hole and also miss the v8 note.

q 1 what is the maximum hp achevable with a stock motor with this layout race time per season is 2 hrs per year(1 heat race is 55 seconds)10 races a night,10 meets a year.
we are hoping to be able to get around 700fhp

regards
stuart

thanks for that will the heads flow enough and is it a rod change or is there major works needed as we are trying to keep the motors all the same in the class ,we are trying to avoid going down the road of competing with the jones and keep it a fun class

Hey Stoog,
I ran my TT setup on a stock engine at the track for nigh on 5 years with great reliability. I generally ran around 10-12psi for between 300-320rwkw and ballpark 500ftlbs at the flywheel. If you can use E85 in your class then you'll better this easy and with all that cooling potential you have you shouldn't have any issues.

BTW, my setup is for sale so may save you some stuffing around as a tried and proven setup? Drop me a pm if you are interested

turbo 1uz jet sprint boat

hi all here is another q's hp gained versus air temp as this engine will be installed in a hull cooling water is from external fresh water .
and if more after cooling is installed to bring the air temp lower equals more fuel equals more hp
what sort of temp are you getting your intake down to in a street combo and any ideas what it could be brought down to with unlimited cooling water at 24 deg c is it worth going down this path

In most cases i'd say stick with air to air as air/water really is just air/air with an extra stage. In your case air/water would be a great way to go with that endless supply of coolant.....just need an efficient core to do the job well which your appear to have with the PWR barrel cooler as long as it's a larger version?

pwr cooler

was going to run twin units the same as they are running for a single turbo should give me a slight advantage

hey i know the guy that started that class for the boats best bet is to speak to john @ j&j automotive in bibra lake he did my car and i can not speak higley enough of john

hi blown i think your on the money with john, i was down at the track tonite with him, looks have got one of the hulls that has been running around this season he does all the tunning for all the turbo class. i was looking at a twin turbo engine but everone tells me that under 700 hp single is fine. john is doing a day of turbo testing to try and get to 600 hp for next season.

one of the boys had a huge crash last week.
its on you tube just type in chappos crash and the vid comes up,driver and pass ok

Hi Stuart,

That was a wild crash the way they nose dived into the water. I race jet boats on the east coast of Australia. I rolled my boat a few weeks ago at Giffith NSW. Search DEVO Giffith Crash for the video.

I run a 350 chev in our resticted class. Would like to run a turbo 1uz but that would put me in the open class.

Would be interested to see how you go with it.

Cheers
Daniel
