I've done a 2 qt. trans fluid change w/ T-IV fluid. How do I completely change out the 8.7 qts of fluid? I know the fluid has never been completely changed. I have 179,000 mi. I plan on purchasing & installing Lexus rebuilt 2800 rpm performance converter in the future. Should I just change 2 qts every 500 miles 6 times? I got 12 qts @ $6.50 per.

The best way to do a full change is to remove an oil cooler line and run it into a bucket. At the same time hook up the other end of the line to a funnel.

Start the car an let it idle.

The oil will pump into the bucket and you keep the oil topped up thru the funnel. This is a two man job as you don't want the trans running out of oil.

Keep feeding it oil until the oil going in the bucket is clean. Or you run out of oil. Stop the car and reconnect the line.

Start car and check the oil level before driving.

Dispose of the old oil thoughtfully.

Yep,

Drop the sump and the filter's held in by 10mm bolts. Quite a few of them to!

Yes. This is called a transmission flush. I paid $80 for a friend, who is a Toyota mechanic, to flush all old transmission fluid out for about 1/2 hour continuously. The old fluid smelled like over-aged Barbequed meat.
