Does anyone have information about the electric stepper motor found on the 1uz throttle body? I'm guessing/ hoping its a 4-phase uni-polar motor b/c the connector has 6 pins on it and uses feedback from the the TP sensor to determine throttle opening ( in this case closing). I've been playing around with a few ideas and i will need throttle by wire control in order for the ideas to work. I've got a few standalone PLC controllers that i can bench test/prototype my ideas out with. Just trying to get information and if anyone else has tried doing this. I know that the throttle body/stepper motor design is 15+ years old, so the speed of response may be an issue( don't know yet). I figure i might as well try since it will only cost me time.

doubt you will gain much. I've just removed my throttle body, however mine has twin butterfly valves which don't appear to be on the 90-91 models, one which appears to be stuck open and the other which is closed. Throttle body is very dirty. Not sure on the difference between 90-91 and 92-93 (mine's the latter) but you could try adding twin throttle bodies to give you something more to play around with and see if your response changes.

Dicko,

The "stuck open" one is the Traction Control.

It will close to reduce power when the blue smoke comes out of the rear wheel arches.
