Dear All ,
I have a to thank many people here for helping us to over come the implantation of the 1997 1UZ I the buggy.
The engine located behind the front suspension, JCB cooler with the origin hydraulic fan at back. All weighs 1,300 kg. 3 people on board, smooth ride on every rought surface due to specially made shocks by KONI and our own build gas pistons.

After many successful local races we are looking forwards to take part in the Dakar rally.
We still battling with high gear ratio of the auto tyranny,. Looking for a manual V160.
The rear diff came form Mitsubishi pajero (king). With final drive of 1:4.9 it just not low enough.
Nevertheless its flying.

Enjoy this video and the image.

Niiice...

the tyres look pretty small, what size are they? Are you running them at the moment to overcome your gearing issue with a plan to change them later?

Whats the suspension configuration? Double A-arm all around? what hubs, spindles, uprights are you running?

our 1UZ is going into the rear of a desert buggy similar to the one Robbie Gordon ran in the last dakar, but without the body and alot of the expensive technology he ran! Also without his trans... :( too many dollars! We're running a Renault UN5 trans built here with lots of aftermarket bits internally as its the best 5 speed we can afford. We're running 33x10.5r tyres on the front, 33x12.5r on the rear either all terrain or mud terrain depending on conditions. Amazing what a difference the increased tyre height (3") made to the roll centre of the car when we changed them, especially on the front! Not such a huge difference in the rear as its a trailing arm config. Fox coil overs and bypass shocks all round and weve got 22" travel in the front, 24" in the rear.

What other shakedowns/events are planned before dakar? Got any more vid? Whats your top speed? How much travel?

Sorry bout all the questions, but Im v interested!

Some of that footage could have been shot in Australia.

The terrain is very much what you meet in the Simpson and Tanami Deserts.
