Speedo, Odo and Cruise not working

Hey guys, i have a 91 ls400 and the speedo, odo and cruise arnt working, i did the diagnostic test and im getting code 42 no.1 speed sensor malfunction.
Do i need a replacement? i had a look to make sure it was plugged in and it seems fine ( sensor is on driver side of transmission at the rear end ) i read on a forum that the no1 sensor was know to be faulty and fail when it got wet i also read sum1 fixed theres by just replacing the plastic gear on the end of the sensor

i cant find a no1 speed sensor anywhere! if any1 knows where i can get one that would be great! not keen on paying 700 for brand new from lexus

could the no2 sensor on the oppostie side of the transmission be failing to?

I pulled both sensors last night and gave them a clean up and checked the little gear on the no1 sensor and all seems fine. i put them both back in and cleared the ecu codes, took it for a spin and come back home turned the car off then back on and now no codes are coming up but my Cruise Speedo and Odo still arent working?????

please can any1 point me in the right direction????
