Looks like the Garrett GT35R with .86 or 1.04 A/R would be a great choice for a single turbo setup. Its a great turbo for stock application and have the potential of making 680 bhp.

The ball bearing is compact and it also pack a punch too. There is one now on ebay. Brand New GT35R They are retail at $1,400. FYI, i am not selling this turbo. Just saw it and let members know about it.

Good luck.

For around $1,000, it beats most other units, although its price could raise with bids going on. But I'm wondering if Garrett will honor the warranty from the second hand buyer.

How much power are you looking to push with that? Seeing as how you have 8 cylinders to fill it up, I would go with the 1.04 A/R. If you're looking to push more than 500 hp, I would go with a compressor that flows a bit more than 52 lbs/min.

I'm wondering which turbo would be the most efficient at 400 to 500 HP for spool and power myself. I may be in the wrong place because of the "lower" power range I'm looking for

! I'm just looking for something reliable with ~10psi to 1 bar or so on 93 Octane to last 100,000mi+ with best spool and mix of low end torque with midrange power. Perhaps later I'll be able to stroke it

If you're looking for quick spool, I would suggest running twin turbos and a small A/R, like .46 or so. I think the "Disco Potato" turbo (two of them, obviously) would work well to hit your power goal.
