I just installed the Supra TT upgraded radiator from Koyo into my LS400. I have been have problems with overheating. I wonder does the reserve tank outlet from the radiator has to be physically higher then the reserve tank itself? I think this setup is have overheating issue because the radiator outlet is higher then the rerservoir itself. If I raise the reserve tank or lower the radiator outlet would this solve my problem?

i doubt it, the radiator is a pressurized tank, it will overflow when the pressure rises because of overheating. then the excess will go into the overflow tank to equalize the pressure and cool the water temp a bit. you might have a crimp though.

well actually..... lets think. if the reserve tank is below the outlet, and if the inlet to the tank is on the bottom, then it might have a crimp where you cant see it.

where the air is bled out is suppose to be the highest point. you can still still have it lower just a bitch to get all the air out, which i say is your problem or the thermostat.

how well did the tt supra radiator fit in the ls400

I would say so yes,if your talking about a header tank that has the pressure cap on it.If your talking about a overflow tank then no.

The header tank is usually higher so as any air is bleed to the top of it but you may be getting air in your rad if its lower.

and i spose youd need an auto one for trans cooling duties

Or fit air trans cooler ?? They are cheap enough!!

I like to have header tank as high as possible. Especially on performance motor.. Bleeding air out / purging is very important !!!

im just looking at having a radiator made now you reckon itd be best just to have a straight radiator without the trans cooler in it like standard

Its up to you?? Either a new one, plenty of them in wrecking yards...
Local cars that where factory fitted with tow packs had trans coolers..
My son's car has an E bay engine cooler for his auto..
If engine is modded with extra power ? Fitting a separate cooler allows std radiator to do it's job...
