Pollution!

Problems with China....China is the number one country that polutes the planet... Factories, and emissions are off the scale... That directly effects us all in the future...

Actually the USA is by far the world's #1 polluter! Unfortunately the US emits more harmful pollution than the whole of Europe & China combined!
The US contains 4.6% of the world's population but produces about 25% of all carbon dioxide emissions. China has 21% of the world's population, and accounts for 13% of all carbon dioxide emissions.
China has actually cut emissions by 17% since the mid 90's, but unfortunately the US, the world's largest polluter, has not backed pollution treaties, such as The Kyoto Protocol, to reduce greenhouse gasses.
Now that directly effects us all in the future!

Your correct, USA is slightly higher then China in polutions as I had to google that fact... It's close, but I know being a born native of the US we are making many positive changes in just the last few years to clean up the air...California is the front running state...

The replublican party is starting to open their eyes to global warming, etc..That in it's self is a break thru....

We have the clean air act that is in affect, we have smaller programs like clean the bay, etc.. Arnold Shwarzenneger (terminator) GOV. passed a brutal bill that punishes big companies that pollute here in California, etc...Hybrids and other cleaner burning cars are being pushed for sales, etc... USA is on the move....

I always thought China is more polluted than the U.S. It's because I heard more about polluted China on the news than the U.S. Who could see the back of his neck, or who would flip the shirt up so other people can see his back, eh?

How do you rationalise that its close? Absolute terms? What about as a proportion of people in the country that contribute to polution?... Most of the rest of the world is so pissed at the US and their selfish policy on polution over the years. Heck even in NZ where we are not even a rounding error on the polution we have put in place crippling policy that makes many manufacturers close because of compliance costs...

i think about .1% of the world cares about pollution in the world. In Turkey I witnessed the Turks :439:dumping 55 gallon drums of dirty diesel oil in the ground. If thats the way they recycle than why would they care about the air. Wouldn't you think China would be creating more pollutants given that they have most of Americas factories now. Personally I'd like to drop a 1UZ into a Toyota Prius and leave the cats off. I think the end is near. Maybe in 2012 like the Mayans said. I'm going to have fun with my V8 now before someone tries to take it away.:sucks::Eyecrazy::burnout::banghead::rocketwhore:

Luckily most of the governments care, goverments mostly elected by people which pick them for their policies :)

does anyone else see the irony of a pollution discussion on a v8 forum lol

i seen on the news that when bush went to a un meeting on polution, in a week his enturage created the same amount of co2 as 200 americans would in a year! 2 jumbo jets, etc. what a joke.

Check back in 20 years, I think more governments will then take notice when the effects of air polution really rears it's ugly head...

I am not a tree hugger, but I don't like to choke on thick smog and bad air.... I've seen it get alot worse here in LA, California in the last 10 years in the valleys, burbank, and Pasadena areas... I've seen dark clouds over the sky on some days, but it was not rain clouds...

I use to see La smog in Mesa AZ everyday. i like pollution myself. :drillsergeant:there's nothing like the smell of carbon dioxide in the morning. its good for you.

True good point... Ha Ha Ha...

Nothing like a hot dry windless day in the valley where visibility is about 1 mile.. What happens next? Your kids asma is acting up because of the smog layer, you can't take a full deep breathe yourself without coughing, you try to run but can't hide from the eminous putrid cloud closing in on you...You run and then quickly get out of breathe, mean while your kid is convulsing on the ground from lack of O2 because he couldn't reach his asma pump in time... The wife you left behing is loosing it too, yelling and choking at you to come back.... It get's ugly, you get the picture.. However, you are a man and race back in your confusion and lack of O2 state of mind to find your lady in a rage, you slap your woman and snap her out of her hysteria, you then locate the asma pump for your kid and rivive him. Order is restored, you make it home in one piece only to find your family dog is dead on the front lawn with it's tongue hanging out... Then what happens next? The wife slaps you and says why did you make us move to the valley you selfish bastard? Just another day in the valley...

A potential smog story for you folks..
