Being one in a million is pretty special. However, if you one in a million in China, then there are 1.3 million of you. Not so special anymore. The current population in China is 1,321,851,888 (estimated by July 2007 by CIA website) That is alot of people. The world population is 6,602,224,175 (July 2007 est). So, pretty much 1 out of 4 people on Earth is Chinese.

So let's say you're in a million and there millions of you. Anyway, I'm not a Chinese but I believe due to the huge Chinese population, they invented so many things from thousands of years ago that we're still using today. They're from gun powder, boat stern, compass...etc. When I took a science class years ago, my professor said that if I don't know who invented something (not modern science), you may say the Chinese and you'll get a 1/4 probable right answer.

I've seen a complete little Chinese bible book with the size of my thumb that contains about 2000 words in it. It's been written for about 500 years ago. Can you believe that?

Do the Chinese and Indians know what condoms and birth control pills are?


Well with people living longer on average, better health care, less wars where millions die, and no plagues it's only a matter of time until this world over populates....

Hang on to that land, grow those veggies and fruits, tend to the cattle, etc... Food will run out first......

They actually have many ways for birth control. The main reason they become over populated is because of their culture. Since thousands of years ago until now, they believe a rich and successful man should have many wives & many children. Also, since the man dominates the society, they go here and there and make babies...LOL.

They're starting to make nuclear weapons and not by a bow & arrows on the back & picking up the fruit anymore. We better watch out. They're also starting to make "Turbos" too. :27:
 
Steve, I believe a rich and successful man should have no kids, because kids are darn expensive...... Ha Ha Ha.... ,

Diapers, formula, private schooling, hip hop clothes, X-box 360 and games, college funds, etc...

If you look at the history of both China and India they were very poor and relied on masses of manpower to survive.

For this reason both county's tended to have large famillies.

Now 1 and 2 kids per couple is the norm but if you have a 2% birth rate and only a .5% death rate your 1.3billion population is growing at 19,500,000 per annum.

This is a litle less than Austrlaia's total popultaion after 220 years of white fella settlement.

At one stage in india a man could get a free transistor radio in exchange for a vasectomy.

They tried giving all the wonmen the pill but the only cycle they could get them on was the cycle of the moon. This meant most women menstruated at the same time which caused a few problems in the rivers where they bathed.
 
I have worked in China for a while... awesome place, they are the new super power, just the US doesnt like to accept it yet :P

Between India and China, the next 50 years will be an incredible time to live in, so much political change and resource issues.

im pretty sure thats completely wrong ay...
populations size is basically controlled by the amount of food the country can supply/get. chinas population is not due to them having lots of babies, it is because they have developed substantially in the last few decades. this has been due to the world getting all their products 'made in china' (among other things obviously), and fuelling the growth of their economy. better economy=more money=more food=more babies

china actually has rules to limit the number of babies a couple can have. that number is ONE. yes, someone correct me if im wrong, but as i understand it, if someone was to have more than one child, the government kills it. what i was expecting to see in this thread after the facts and figures was a comparison of the number of men in china compared to the women. an offshoot of the one baby rule - and a culturally trend for families to want a son to carry the family name - is that there is grossly more men in china than women. it is something like 13-14 men per 10 women. amagine it, if you're a chinese man, your chance of ever having a life partner gets pretty slim if you're not particularly affluent or goodlooking.

another interesting thing i heard, is that china is a major lender to america now. sorry to say this but they pretty much own you...

now who rules the world? lol
 
Problems with China....China is the number one country that polutes the planet... Factories, and emissions are off the scale... That directly effects us all in the future...

Yes, the Chinese are limited to one baby.... Atleast the the Chinese understand over population, now they just need to contribute on cleaning up the air....

China also has strict laws, firing squads, etc...If I am not mistaken... That's scary to me... If I were Chinese I would definetely be looking to migrate to the US like so many do...

I speak regularly with Chinese people that are new to the US and seek out work in Hotels in downtown LA usually through family contacts. They all say they never want to go back to the home land...Or they tell me they have no interest in going back to visit, although they will miss their families dearly...

From what I am hearing from them China is not all that.....

BE CAREFULE !! " 1.3 Billion " is the population for republic China .
That is mean except Hong Kong + Taiwan + Macao.

The total will be ~ 2 Billion ………….!!!!!

China as a country is several thousand years old. They had currency for trade thousands of years ago... ask yourself what your country was doing! Mine had people eating eachother 150years ago!

It still surprises me how little people know about China and all the myths that people promote about it. You CAN have more than one child, though it requires payment of a "social compensation fee" for couples in an URBAN area.
 
e-solver is correct up until the 70's it was quite common in China to have 5 or more kids as they all helped in the farm work or went to the factories.

China's population would not be what it is if they didn't need all thise mouths to work.

I won't comment on uncivilised people who eat one and other. We have to play them in sport.

Here in the USA people do not get hung, (atleast not in a 100 years or so) they get fried (electric chair) or put to death thru leathel injection...However, it takes years, and years to actually get the death penalty enforced...There are court appeals that last for decades, over turns, dismisals, etc... People are tried, judged, and convicted by a panel of jury members, a dozen normal people like you and me.. They hear the whole story of the crime and the court is regulated by a judge. The jury of people gather all facts of the crime and deliberate, judge and convict for the crime that has been committed.. All jury members must agree or the trial wll be declared a mistrial...The system works most of the time and is very fair...However, OJ Simpson is a good example of when the system fails...Money and attorney power helps beat the system for sure....

No firing squads, no cainings, etc..Here in the US.. I am not speaking bad about China, I have never been there and just don't know enough about the country hands on. I just relate back to what the Chinese tell me about China...Most that come to America do not like China, but most I speak with are from the smaller towns and have had trouble finding work.. Don't know about the big city living...

E-solver you sound like you are currently are living in China or have lived their recently, could it be true?...I thought the Chinese were regulated and not able to use the internet, is the correct?
 
I have worked in China before, I helped setup a factory for a company I work for in a town just south of Shanghai... of course they have the internet :) And McDonalds and KFC and TacoBell and Levis and Apple pie and Coke :) Mind you since those feed places started popping up people are getting fat over there too haha.

I know what you mean about listening to people having moved from a country, I know a few Americans who have moved here that cant stand it over there and moved their whole family here. Heck we have more people leave for Aussie and the UK than you would imagine for a country our size.
 
Oh I guess I was thinking about North Korea in regards to the lack of internet use that is regulated by the dictator of that country...My bad...

regarding the one baby thing, thanks for the clear up e-solver. i thought there would be some way around it. as neccesary as it is though, it will have mass social implications, and some other strange effects too (such as after one generation of most couples having one baby, almost nobody will have cousins or aunties or uncles. lol christmas shopping would be easy!)

id rather be a maori in the 1800's than an abbo in the 1800's tho, thats for sure.
