I wish I could remember the exact quote, but in my Epic's owner's manual, TOYOTA recommends synthetic engine oil in the boating application. This is in the M1UZ, and it's hard not to think they spec'd it because boat engines can be under a higher load than most vehicles.
As for the boat, Mobil1. In the Sequoia, Mobil1. I'm sure that regular oil would be just fine in there, but both vehicles are expensive and I plan on having both of them for a very long time. Also use Mobil1 oil filters on both, Mobil1 gear oil in the v-drive and Mobil1 ATF in the boat tranny. The same stuff would be in the Sequoia except for the fact that TOYOTA requires special fluids in both tranny and differential.
