Hey Everyone!!

Just thought id introduce myself and say what ive join this forum for.. :)

Im putting a 1uzfe into a 180sx (Yes im Australian... Broadbeach/Gold Coast to be precise). Ive got the 1uzfe lined up with a manual rx7 gearbox (not sure of model name yet) and computer management system to run that gearbox (this setup is currently in a earlier model Mazda Mx5 (Miata to you Americans).

Found some great pics/setups which i have been looking for quite some time (engine mounts etc) on here.. and just wanna say looks like you guys here are doing an awesome job with the site and I cant wait to get stuck into building my car with the help i can find on here!!

Is the 180sx a version of the Nissan 240sx we get here in the states or something else?
 
actually the 180sx has a few different motors in it depending on yr/model.. there is the 1.8L 4 Cyl, and a 2.0L 4 Cyle (CA18DET + SR20DET respectivly) but alot of people in aussie like to put in the skyline motors (Mainly the RB20DET) because its a rather easy conversion.. :)
 
Nice r u building the car for drift???? 180 are a very common drift car. if Khudar Elhaouli in the Drift Australia series can put a 5.7L gen 3 in a silvia u shouldent have 2 many troubles. The diff between the 60 deg gen 3 and the 90 deg Quadcam might limit ur exhaust size and shape tho. It did with my drift comodore.
 
I tried drifting in my SC400 just the other night and almost crashed... How the heck do you guys do that? There is a very fine line between sliding and spinning out...

Let it be known I did successfully drift in my SC400 for a short time and did not lose it..However I found it to be very challenging, slightly dangerous and very nerve racking... Have fun fellas it's all you..
 
I dont really want a drift car, although i dont mind having a car step out on me every now and then when i want it to happen... Im primarly building this car because iw ant sumthing different and that stands out, and sumthing that i can build and b proud of (my current car.. 1990 U12 Nissan Pintara[google it for some info] which i have had for 6 yrs and was given to me)..

There is still quite alot to go even thou the engine is fitted...

A quick list off the top of my head/ones that we CURRENTLY know about:

1. Swar bar needs to be replaced or new one made (one from a ford or cefiro might fit :-\ ???)
2. Clute slave cylinder and pedal need to be installed along with new brake (replace the wide auto one)
3. Gearbox crossmember/mount
4. 180's tailshaft needs to be combined with the RX7 gearbox yolk
5. Fit radiator
6. Help manifold breathe/fit due to collision with steering column
7. Relocate battery so theres room for Air Filter
8. Do something about bonnet hitting on top of motor (only needs to be about a 10-15mm raise)
9. Swap Digital dash for Mechincal one

new update when more stuff happens :)

yet another Update...

Things seem to be running ALOT quicker than i expected... according to my mate building the car, it should be ready by the end of the week to take back to my place to i can finalise a few lil bits a pieces...

The motor was started on the weekend...!! :D

hey Guys...
Im kinda stuck looking for mags, ive had a look in a few car shops and online... but im still undecided... I dont wann go much larger than 17... maybe 18's at the most....
Im not looking for BLING wheels, just sumthing nice... Currently my car is grey... but it will be getting painted a bit darker, like a charcol grey... almost black...

Are those New Zealand rego plates ???
I have grey WRX with gold mags..
They realy contrast well..
 
yeha they do look like kiwi plates.... but im not sure whos car it is... mines the one at the top of the post...
I think gold is the way to go too

Clutch master couldnt fit behind the engine... nothing we could find would fit.. so we got a Navara master, and sunk it back in the firewall.. pure genuis if you ask me!!

I see your using the ol vl rad,how did she go fitting wise??
