I have a 98 tacoma, 2.7L with a 5 speed. Its 4x4. I want to swap in a 1uz from an SC400. I plan on buying a full, running and driving vehicle to avoid any problems with the engine being damaged in transit or ending up with missing parts. I want to run the stock lexus auto tranny but plan on putting dana 60s under it at the same time so ill need to convert it to 4x4. Ive done alot of research and from what i can tell i have to get a 4wd tundra trans swap out the tailshaft from the tundra into the lexus trans. Is this the only way that i can keep the stock lexus auto and go 4x4? Also i know the fuel flow rates of the pump in my tacoma are lower than the lexus. Can i use the stock pump from the lexus in my tacomas tank? Im also wondering about cooling, id like to use the stock radiator either from the tacoma or the lexus. Im trying to help keep the cost of the swap down by using and reusing old parts from the sc and from the tacoma. ANY and ALL advice will be VERY much appreciated!!! Thank you in advance for any help. -Jordan:)

Swpping the trans output shaft is the easiest way. You could use a divorced transfer, they're cheap as in the States but that gives you 3 tailshafts to modify $$$$.

Check this link for how its done http://www.uzswap.com/forum/index.php?board=11.0

I would think the stock Tundra fuel pump would keep up with a stock 1UZ but I'd just try it and see.

Your Tacoma is 2wd, I think, so I would think the radiator wouldn't bbe up to the task.

The Lexus radiator would work on the road but I think it would struggle off road.

Hope that helps.

My tacoma is a 4wd, so it would be the larger radiator, or i could use the sc400 radiator. Thanks for the link to swapping the output shafts! The fuel pumps that would be immediately available to me would be my tacomas or the stock pump from the sc400. Would i be able to drop the lexus pump in my tacomas tank? Thanks for the info thus far!

Sorry can't help with fuel pump swapping as I'm not familliar with Tacomas. We don't have them here.

I would try the Tacoma pump first and see how it runs.

Why not ask a local EFI service centre?

I would use the 4x4 radiator as my experience is their radiators are more substantial as they are designed for slow moving highish revs when in low range so need to cool better.

Not sure it would work well enough off road but as an example my Rover radiator was built for 135fwhp and now cools around 450fwhp on the road no problem. I haven't tried any hard off roading to know how it will go in those conditions.
