So then, my first project:

Project T4R started 1 afternoon flicking through the endless possibilities of Ebay!
Picked up a relatively cheap 4Runner. So off i went and drove to Adelaide from Melbourne with 2 mates.. Probably could of found 1 in Melbourne, but something in me loves a road trip.

This is how i bought it..

The flares have been fiberglassed in the guards. Thought It would look good once it was all painted. I think I go that right. My back up plan was to install bushwhacker flares if I wasn’t happy with how it turned out.

Engine bay, undercarriage, and diffs are painted Matt Black.

For a while, i had no idea what i wanted to do in terms of power, already having a Hilux with a holden 308, that seemed pointless, thought about turbos, then i came across a oppurtunity i couldnt refuse. a bloke in newcastle was selling a writen-off mazda b2200 ute, with a 1uzfe bolted to a supra gearbox. haltech computer. and a 9inch.. Road trip No2
brought that back and stripped that down, carefully though, never know what you going to need down the track..

I was adamant that I wanted to keep the original cross member and tail shafts lengths when fitting the motor, this would eliminate any vibrations, other than the tyres, (My Hilux has massive vibrations because of chopped tailshafts and custom cross member). the sump was custom when I bought the motor so I had no problems with that. However I needed to make a remote oil filter setup coz the filter would of fix my chassis mounts.

Interior has been all changed and repainted. Interior was originally brown interior with white roof lining.. Now the theme suits the color of the car. Black and dark grey.
As you can tell, I love missile switches, their not just for looks though.. I went with tacho’s inside the car instead of on the bonnet but didn’t want them in front of my face either so I mounted them in front of the passengers face.. Also installed a JVC DVD Player, touch screen system. Installed electric windows, auxiliary power outlet in the back.
All the electrics are wired to the auxiliary battery, the main battery only starts the motor.
Wiring the entire car up took a couple of days. But enjoyed it.

Custom aluminum 3 core triple flow radiator. I had to change the outlets as the 1uzfe has a c&*t of a setup. With Twin 10” thermo fans, and a bonnet scope, I was confident that it would be more that enough to keep it cool. As it turns out, she sits on 90dec all day long.

Exhaust: simple and effective design, dual 2 ½ inch exhaust coming down the sides of the chassis. Lukey mufflers and GM cats, with no balance pipe.

The bulbar: My idea for the bulbar was for it to be a tube bar, that could house a winch, can hold 4 spotlights, have a unique look to it, had to scream TOYOTA. And had to have LED indicators. That’s what I started from.
And ended up with this:
