I have heard these chargers are very similar in size. I think the M90 is 1.5L and the SC14 (Toyota Supercharger) is 1.4L. I wonder what is there speed rating on it. My current SC14 has 4" pulley on it and I would like to reduce it to 3" but don't want to over spin it.

The SC14 is rated to 10,000 RPM.
The SC12 will do 12,000 RPM.

Any faster than this and they will start melting the rotors.

Nope, no idea about the M90.

Haven't seen it myself yet

playing with the sc12's for a while on both my car and a friends, the only thing thats broken in them was the barings seezing. But no melting to be seen. This Setup was standerd 4AGZE with a HKS Crank pulley (?170mm?), the engine rev limiter is set to 8500 and it reaches this on a daily basis. the charger lasted about 8months, replaced with another unknown mileage one, it's made another 8months with no dramas.

a 12,000 RPM limit for the sc12 is very conservative, I do know of a few guys that push them to around the 14, 000 mark, but you'll find that they start to create more heat than boost at that RPM

I havent yet tested the SC14 to it's full limits. Guess I'll find out when it goes bang!

here's a file for M90 vs M112 (attached)

and a compressor map for a gen5 M90 http://www.eatonperformance.com/superchargers/M90-performance-map.html

and for the gen5 M112 http://www.eatonperformance.com/superchargers/M112-performance-map.html

BTW eaton have new stuff out, a new series called TVS, and they are a very nice anwser to the rotrex line-up

happy going.

I'm in the early stages of designing a Laminova extruded 3 or 4 core water to air intercooler for an Eaton M90 on a milled down stock (gen1)1uz lower intake, that would eventualy sit 17mm higher than the stock intake. IC will be running it's own coolingfluid system.

MWP is correct.

some enthusiasts spin the SC14 to 11,000 rpm with no damage - even though they are rated to 10,000.

however i think 14,000 is a "little" optimistic :Eyecrazy: !!!!

Toyota's rating for the SC12 is 12,000rpm. But then, Toyota's rating for the 1UZFE is 180kW....
