Later 5 speed into early LS?

Hi,

Anybody swapped the 4 speed for a 5 speed? I'd like to put the 5 in my 91' LS400, and wonder what all is involved? - I plan to use an external controller, so don't care about the ECU part. Do they mechanically fit the same package, and would it require the later shifter too or?....

From my limited exp on the 5 speed autos I would say yes it can work as far as bolting it in and up.

The 5 speed shifter would need to be used as well.

The 5 speed is just a modded a340 when it comes down to it so it's an evolution of the early trans that you have now.

the only thing i know of that would run the 5 speed is the PCS TCM-2000
