Is this water line required?

I have pulled the inlet off my 1st Gen 1UZ, and there is a line that goes from the top of the thermostat housing thru to the throttle body and then to the rear crossover channel. I was hoping to remove it. Is it required for anything other than heating the throttle body?

If i havn;t explained myself properly i'll host some pics of what i mean.

i got rid of it on mine. theyre just to heat the throttle body.

Make a difference to the Intake. Mine went from hard to hold your hand on to just above ambient temp
