Interference or non interference

Interference or non interference cam/timing belt....
How can I work out what series/year 1uz I have?
Can you tell by engine numbers?
Where is engine number located on block?

I purchased the long motor, bear engine, non VVTI
front sump, cut loom, no ecu, off the floor from importer
not from a 1/2 cut. The motor had log manifolds
(not the crown ones) with 4 wire O2 sensors, and
the hydrolic oil driven rad fan,was suppose to be
LS400, but am unsure of that, and what year...
Had traction control type throttle body... got some pics...

Looks like non interference

Unless you changed the sump it's an LS400

The fuel lines going under the head also say it's an LS400.

How can you tell what rods it has?...Pull off the sump and take a look?

So it it safe to that its an LS400 1st gen 1uzfe (1990-1994) is NON-interference?

The early 1UZ 's had strong rods.

The later models had lighter weaker rods.

Yoiu have a good one.

i think the phrases 'strong' and 'weak' are all a bit misleading...

may i suggest 'weak' and 'less weak'

in the big scheme of things the stock sintered rods are pretty scrawny, and not of desirable construction for an engine build.
