underdog,,i need to look at peewees post-- but i will try and follow this thread.. i think there may be some clearance issues-- but its def worth taking a close hard look at..i have heard of guys using the 3sgte flywheel, so using a 1uz in a front drive maybe possible.. i know that there are quite a few v6 mr2s around, so a v8 would seem a logical evolution, and maybee a great swap..
the mr2 trans is well proven to handle descent amounts of hp, so a v8 should not give it to much trouble.. i have an mr2, and would be willing to help figure this one out..

Hi underdog51, have a look at this old post from a few weeks ago mr monkey was looking at the same thing, search for "1uz-fe trimming", at the bottom of that page/thread are some pics as to how it all got too hard, hope this helps

Nothing is impossible if you want it badly enough. I have not studied this, but what I would suggest is tilt the engine. Instead of posisioning it "straight up", tilt it so the flange interfering with the driveshaft comes "above" the driveshaft. You will need to make a plate between the engine and the gearbox, custom sump and pickup, engine mounts + perform major surgery to the bulkhead and possibly the chassis rails.

wot about using gm v6 fwd trans from a J body, they are in pick a part buy the thousands in the states

Thanks guys for all the responses. I took a look at that thread and it sucks it can't be a bolt up thing.

what makes the GM tranny work? I love this engine and all toyotas. I got an mr2 that needs somthing for power. I have a bunch of little projects, so this one can take some time.
