FWD 1uz in a cammy, what do i need to do ?

Well Lextreme imed me showing some progress on his project, which is awesome. And I was saying about how I was thinking of doing a 5SGTE hybrid, but then he said it! Just put the 1uz FWD in it! So now I will go to the ends of the earth to find out how heh.

Some things I need to know:

Dimensions of the engine.

What tranny will I need to use ?

Driveshaft mods ?

Wiring? Ill write a check, sorry but me + wiring = no go.

I have someone who can make custom mounts for me for free. Hes starting a high performance store and we might be using this for a sample of what he can do. We both thought a V8 camry would be nice. The car as it is is a auto trans.

Year : 1995 Trim: LE 5SFE.

Your biggest hurdle will be finding a tranny that has driveshafts that will clear the block.

Have a search for a thread about an MR2 swap.
The 3sge/5sfe gearbox is the same as the v6 gearbox, and I'm pretty sure the driveshafts will never clear the block, not without maybe mods.

You may have to look into getting a FWD american box, like the northstar, and custom fitting that.

I'd say a RWD camry would be easier.

how would making it RWD easier than FWD as it is already FWD ? Ill look into it but i dont think it will work...

Just bash a tranny tunnel in it and graft an IRS setup in the rear.
Wouldn't be the hardest job on earth thats for sure.

use the 1MZFE gearbox - the V6 camry box. same bellhousing pattern, different gear ratios.

the 1MZFE is "apparently" a 1UZFE with 2 cylinders cut off.

the 1MZFE is a 60deg V6, not a 90deg.
So really its nothing like the 1uz.

Its also a lot narrower at the base due to the 60deg, so you can squeeze a driveshaft past it.

but those pics speak for themselves - no way it would fit the driveshafts past.
