Direct Fuel Injection switch point

Anyone has already played with the 1UR-FSE engine? I was wondering in what situations does the ECU use direct fuel injection and when is it using port injection? And is this always the same or are things like coolant temperature and such also taken into account?
I heard most ECU's are reprogrammable these days, anyone already broken into the Lexus ECU?
