Since doing my engine conversion I have using Nulon Red long life coolant that contains 'O.A.T corrision inhibitors', but my main issue is that it stains everything it touches and unfortunately a broken radiator hose has resulted in a red engine bay.

I've had a look at the Nulon web site and the differences between the red and the green coolants appears to be "Hybrid Additive technology (HAT) anti-corrosion chemicals which provide maximum protection for up to 4 years or 250,000km (whichever comes first). Guaranteed safe to use in all vehicle cooling systems" for the green Vs "organic additive technology (OAT) carboxylate corrosion inhibitors. RLL is the preferred coolant to use in cooling systems fitted with aluminium radiators" for the red. Even talking with the local radiator repairer doesn't conclude there to be any difference apart from the colour and the red's capacity to stain everything it touches.

Just as a side note I am not using an aluminium or plastic tanked radiator.

As I have to buy new coolant, should I continue to pay more and put up with the red staining or go green and save the inconvenience.

To avoid the problem, go with OEM Toyota red coolant. It can be washed off easily and I believe it's better than the aftermarket green coolant. However, I used green coolant before and didn't have any problem. I even used green coolant in other cars as well.

Alot of stuff stains, the stuff we use does aswell, makes for easy leak detection though. It normally cleans off with soapy water.

yup, most coolant stains. Even my computers' water cooling loop has Feser one "blue" coolant and it stains plastic, acrylic as well as skin.

Did you try using WD-40 to remove the red stains?

I've tried soapy water, metho, car cut & polish and swearing but once its dry there's no moving it. The quality of the coolants is the more important issue and staining is a bad side issue.
