Bending Exhaust Pipes with sand

One of the most usefull things i have found on the net.Been trying to find this out for years.Articles like this stop the knowledge being lost forever.

just draw them up in solidworks and go to a cnc bending facility.

that's how most of the kitcar manufacturers make their manifolds.

If you have the solid works or CAD file it's not really expensive.

My 4age 20v manifold for the sylva striker is made that way, see piccie.
The time it takes to produce the bends is a "must see happening" to believe, ie seconds.

I used to work next door to a guy in Melbourne who used to custom make extractors for race cars back in the 70s. He used sand to bend them and before he started bending he welded the pipes to the flange which was later attached to the motor. He was pretty good too.
