Auto Box Gears

Hi guys, bit of a dumb Q! but when you put the auto box in D for drive how many times should it change gear??

The auto behind a 1UZ has 3 gears plus overdrive,

so in "D" there's a shift between 1st and 2nd, then another between 2nd and 3rd.

You have to manually switch to overdrive with the switch on your center console.

Thanks for that mate, i had to ask as this is the 1st time i have used the car with the 1UZ in it and i was unsure how many time the box should shift when its in the "D"

OK my next Q? i need to replace my kickdown cable? do i have to take the sump of the gearbox to fit this or can i do it with out takeing the sump of?? im asking as im unsure, and i dont want to go pulling the gearbox from the car if i dont have to!
