Can you take the air flow meter apart and put it in a different housing like just the pipes or does the inside of the housing have to suit?

I ask as the standard crown housing is just to big for what I want in my lux.

Or can I just get a different one all together?

This might be a dumb question to some but I know stuff all about this type of thing. So thanks in advance.

The ECU senses the amount of air flowing through the AFM because it knows the area or cross section of the unit and calculates of the air speed how much it is flowing. If you change it for a smaller unit you will end up running rich then the o2 sensors will try to address the problem. I don't think it will work.

Why do you want to change the size. Is it because you want to flow less air or is it because the unit physically is difficult to fit in the area you have.

I had a similar problem with fitting it all in. Try moving it elsewhere as the ECU won't care if it is a metre from the engine as long as it is sensing and sending back the signal without any air leaks.

Only wanting to change it because of room. I can make it fit but it`ll look a bit ugly. Might look at putting it else where.

Thanks dude, man you`ve help me lots with things that must seem like dumb questions to you.

Guts,

There's your answer.

Jim gave it away.

Move the winch solinoids and put the afm in the battery tray.

Wires are easier to make go where you want than a 100mm piece of pipe.

We all started asking what appeared to be silly questions but if you don't ask you won't know. I haven't found anyone on this Site who doesn't want to help. Interestingly flamming isn't the lextreme style. Unlike a few other Sites we both frrequent.
