recently bought a wonderful "mx5/miata" with a 4litre toyota engine
but sadly one of the pistons has low compresion so a major fix is required
the fellow fixing it suggesteed the cheapest way out was to replace the currrent engine with another engine
both the old engine ( apx 75 km) and the "new" ( apx90km) one are essentially standard( bits to fit from mine will go on the new one)

im wondering
1..what could have been the problem! ....faulty injector??
2...what problems might have occurred as a result of the failure?.....is it conceivable for instance that the piston or head has been damaged?..
3...and in turn whether i really need the new(2nd hand) engine ( $800 plus the cost of transfering parts )

the engine has to come out..so new belts
wondering
4....what other bits could do with replacment?..obviously belts..should i for instance get a new water pump just because its out so its relatively easy etc

and
5 is there any obvious add ons to make the beastie go harder..better....safer( as in less likely to break)( already has AM( wolf) ecu and upgraded intake/exhaust) was suprcharged but sc was deleted and i dont feel inclined to spend the 5+ k to put it back at this stage
thsks in advance for reponse
