95 and 97 Engine swap

The 1UZFE EGR Delete Kit is available for sale here.
I've pulled some info on the topic from club lexus.

I'm putting a 97 1uzfe into a 95 sc400.

Both engines are sitting side by side on roll around carts and I'm doing a comparision and getting a game plan together on how to handle this.

I'd like to keep the car obd-1. Due to cali smog law. ( I know I can upgrade to a later model engine but don't want the hassles of CARB cert.)

How should I go about this? Swap the whole fuel rails + injectors + wiring harness and use the 95 MAF and ecu?

I have the 97 engine harness + maf sensor + ecu. If you guys think it would be better to go that route.

The EGR routing is different and the coolant routing is slightly different but it doesn't look like much of a problem.

This is a document showing differences...

Any help would be much appreciated.

OBDI Vs. OBDII. We have a friend with similar swap and his car is not firing up either. He has a 1992 with a 1997 engine.

Yes OBD1 vs OBD-2

More importantly MPFI vs SFI

I want to know if I can use the 97 harness + MAF + ECU in the 95 chassis without issues.

Or if I should should switch the fuel rails / from the 95 engine onto the 97 engine and use the 95 harness+MAF+ ECU.

Who is your friend? Can you put me in touch with him so we can exchange ideas?

I think the accessory connectors to the gauges will be the problem. My friend doesnt talk much about his car especially the engine part.

I swapped intakes/fuel rails/egr tubes/rear coolant cross over.

Used 95 ecu and wiring harnesses. Works fine.

Incorrect.

The 95 harness will not fit the 97 rear coolant crossover tank. It's the wrong shape. Therefore..

You must use the 95 egr tube w/ the 95 crossover tank

Also the starter selenoid connector must be used from the 97 harness if you dont' change over the starters.

The fuel rails are different. The sensors and valves on the intake plenum are different.

The lower intake is the same. The uppers are the same, but no sense in changing all the sensors over, just swap plenums and fuel rails as one assembly intact.

The best and easy way is to swap the whole complete ECU and harness of the 97 engine with sensors over to the 95 body. I"m not sure about the tranny, but if the 97 ECU has different parameters for the tranny and if the 97 tranny is different, then the 97 ECU may not control the 95 tranny properly. The 95 tranny is A341E.

Thats what I was asking initially. David said the aux gauges and the dash wouldn't work properly with a 97 engine, harness, ecu, maf on a 95 body. Without changing clusters and dash harness.

So I put the 95 upper plenum w/ sensors/fuel rails/TB attached and both engine harnesses over to the 97 engine. And use the 95 ecu and maf. Basically just using the longblock off of the 97. .5 more compression and a bit more aggressive cams, lighter timing gears and rods, I think were the only internal differences.

The 97 transmission has the exact same sensors, connectors, etc as the 95 trans did. I couldn't find a difference between the transmissions what so ever. You said the 95 has a a341e...Which trans is the 97 supposed to have? Everywhere I've looked says 95 and 97 sc400 trans are the same. I never bothered to check honestly because it all snapped together like it was nothing.

Both 95 and 97 transmissions say AISIN Model NO. 30-40LE. And to be clear Both engines came from SC400's. I put the 97 sc400 engine and trans into a 95 body.
