Hi guys!

Im new to this forum and came from poland.

I own a 1990 toyota landcrusier fj80 3FE engined and have a plan to re-engine it with 1uzfe and try to mate it with A440F trans.

As ya all know the A440F has no electronics, controls, and ECT..... instead of lexus tranny which has ECT and tranny ecu is built in the engine ecu.

I know that there will be a problem when the 1uzfe ECU will not ,,see,, its own tranny propably ,,Check engine,, will go on.......... fault codes....... ect.

What do ya guys suggest to do.

Today I have spoken with one guy about toyota celsior which have manual trans........ and 1UZFE.... one of the way solving the problem will be getting ecu from celsior......

Any suggestions?

Please Help

Best regards

I too have thought about that swap in my 1993 Land Cruiser as well...The 1uz-fe swap would be a huge improvement over your severly underpowered 1990 Land Cruiser engine...What is that a 4.0 liter straight six mtor? In 1993 Toyota came out with the 4.5 liter straight six cylinder motor which is a much stronger motor...I still considered swapping out that motor for the 1uz-fe motor but could not locate the mating parts to pull it off....

Curous why swap out the tranny? You now have the AWD stock cruiser tranny, and it would seem very fruitless and difficult for you to try and swap in the RWD mate tranny for the 1uz-fe... Unless you are considering making your Cruiser a 2wd street racer or something of that nature.....

As far as ECU concerns go, if all else fails you can always use a Stand Alone ECU...

Good luck and I would like to see you pull that off...Keep us posted..

Well

A 3FE is the old tractor motor :) a very longlife and reliable engine.... 4.0L
When my car was stock it was ok..... Now..... Suspension lift, much biger tires and it feels much underpowered...........

I want to keep rest of powertrain original...... as well as the transmission which is hooked to the awd transfer........

When I saw a 1UZFE in ls400 I just fell in love in it and decided to buy one for my cruiser.......

One point of the plan was to swap 1UZFE with its tranny and mate the trans to transfer case...... that could work (the TCS, ECU) electronic stuff...... but I dont know about gearing of Lexus tranny........

So another way to do it is to keep the a 440f with its transfer and mate 1UZFE to it..... It should be possible....... but in this case I have two new problems

1.Will the a 440F handle the power and torque of V8
2.ECT problem
3.And which converter to choose............. propably I will have to mate the 3FE converter to 1UZFE

In few days Im going to buy 1UZFE and post pics......

I now see what you are attempting to do...Sounds doable, but mating it all up still might be challenging.... The 440F should be able to handle the 200whp N/A 1uz. V8 power no problem... The ECT problems you speak of I am not sure about...Choosing a good stall rate torque converter should not be a issue either....

I think you are good as long as you can physically mate it all up....

I know the 1993 and newer Cruiser tranny's can handle up to 400whp...Not sure about the older ones...but I am sure 200whp is not a problem...
